Margin Debt Down 1.7% in August; Receding From Last Month's High

FINRA has released new data for margin debt, now available through August. The latest debt level is at $797.162 billion, down from the high levels seen last month. Margin debt is down 1.7% month-over-month (MoM) and up 15.7% year-over-year (YoY). However, after adjusting for inflation, debt level is down 1.8% MoM and up 12.8% YoY.
