Housing April 29th Weekly Update: Inventory up 2.5% Week-over-week, Up 31.8% Year-over-year

Altos reports that active single-family inventory was up 2.5% week-over-week. FHFA House Price Index Rebounds in February to New High

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) house price index (HPI) rebounded to 423.0 in February, a new all-time high. U.S. house prices increased by 1.2% from the previous month and are up 7.0% from one year ago. After adjusting for inflation, the real index was up 0.8% month-over-month and up 5.1% year-over-year.

Realtor.com Reports Active Inventory Up 33.3% YoY; New Listings Up 10.4% YoY

What this means: On a weekly basis, Realtor.com reports the year-over-year change in active inventory and new listings. On a monthly basis, they report total inventory. For April, Realtor.com reported inventory was up 30.4% YoY, but still down almost 36% compared to April 2017 to 2019 levels. Now - on a weekly basis - inventory is up 33.3% YoY. Realtor.com has monthly and weekly data on the existing home market.
